What is Physical Therapy?

Physiotherapy or Physical Therapy is a health care profession primarily concerned with the prevention or remediation of all kind of body impairments and disabilities whether Muscular, Neurological, Arthrogenic or Discogenic purely by the physical means i-e through Therapeutic exercises, Joints mobilizations, Manual therapy techniques etc. without the use of any kind of drug or medicine. It also focuses on the promotion of Range of mobility, functional ability, quality of life and the movement potential through Examination, Evaluation, Diagnosis and Physical Intervention.

What does DPT stand for?

DPT stands for “Doctor of Physical Therapy”, which is a full fledge 5Years Doctorate Degree comprising of 10 Semesters.

What is the Scope of DPT?

A Physiotherapist who has done with his/her DPT Degree can run his/her own private clinic independently. He/She can join the government as well as private sector health care clinics. He/She can also join as an official Physiotherapist with different teams like Cricket, Hockey, Football and Rugby Teams both at National and International level. He/She can also join the Medical as well as Allied Health Sciences Institutes and Universities as a Lecturer. In short, this is an emerging field with a very bright future both within the country and abroad.

What is the admission criteria for DPT?

The eligibility criteria for the Doctor of Physical Therapy is minimum 50% Marks in FSc. Pre-medical or A- Levels.

Is the program recognized by HEC?

Yes, the program is recognized by Higher Education Commission, Pakistan.

Is admission FEE included in the Fee per Semester?

No, Admission Fee of Rs. 20,000 other than semester Fee will has to pay only once in the first semester.

How many seats are available in Doctor of Physical therapy program?

There are total 100 seats available for the DPT students on merit bases.

How long does it take to complete the DPT program?

What is the duration of one semester?

6 months.

Is there any scholarships available?

Yes, need based scholarships are available for students who scored good marks in F.Sc.

What do I need to submit?

Attested copies of metric and F.Sc certificates along with the copy of B form or ID card, hope certificate in case of result awaited students and 4 passport size pictures of blue background attached along with the application form.

What do I need to prepare for the entry test?

100 marks entry test comprising of MCQs will come from the courses of F.Sc including English, Physics, Chemistry, Biology and G.K .

What is the procedure to apply online?

Online application form can be downloaded from the university respective website sent to the university address by courier along with the required documents and bank Draft of Rs. 1800 in the name of university of Lahore Islamabad campus.

How far is the university from highway?

It is 6.7 km form the main Islamabad highway at Japan Road, Sihala.

Is there any other campus other than Sihala where the classes can held?

No

What is the procedure to apply in case of result awaited students of the 2nd year?

Undertaking would be signed by the respective student so that incase if the student doesn’t fulfill requirements of their marks as per HEC criteria, his/her admission will be automatically cancelled by the university.

How can A level and foreign students meet the eligibility criteria?

These students need to produce IBCC equivalency certificate to the admission committee.

What is the location of hostel?

Both girls and boys separate hostel are located in the SOAN Gardens.

Is there any scholarships / financial aid?

Yes, we offer merit scholarships for students who get first three positions in any semester.
